Veracruz, Ver.- David Velasco Chedrahui, Director Of COVER
2014 and Secretary of the Trust Fund for the XXII Centro American
and Caribbean Games in Veracruz 2014, informed that the sport
facilities in the Unviersidad Veracruzana will be redesigned to
host the games.
First of all David Velasco stated "We have foreseen and assigned
resources, we are waiting those resources to see where to apply
them, although we already know that we will apply them based on the
studies that have been carried out. As soon as the report is
finalized, I will be able to address a meeting and assign those
resources", he also indicated that since the required document has
not been fully stated, legally he is not yet the Secretary of the
trust fund.
"We had a previous meeting with people from HKS and COVER 2014,
they said where to apply the resources, they even stated the costs,
where to remodel and where to create new facilities, they gave us
an advance but we require the legal document where everything is
specified with all the data for each facility".
In relation to the other headquarters he said that Xalapa and
Tuxpan will host the canoeing activities. " Indeed, we know that
Veracruz will host the majority of events followed by Xalapa where
we recently had a tour with the Mayor. "
He also expressed " Marco Falcón, who is the financial director
for COVER 2014 , conducted a meeting with executives of the
Universidad Veracruzana, he told us that they have and will give us
resources to remodel the locations, that they will also allow us to
use a field they have near the airport of Veracruz for different
sport disciplines, we can even use the athletics stadium. All these
facilities require a lot of space for all those disciplines that
can't be accommodated elsewhere".
Finally he stated " Now with all the tours we made with Mayors
from Xalapa, Veracruz and Boca del Rio, we have a clearer view of
where can we locate each discipline, for the next meeting we will
have with COVER 2014 the idea is to select all the options for each
sport so when the final record is stated we can assign and apply
specific resources".
