The Governor of Puerto Rico, Luis G. Fortuño in his annual message to the Legislature announced:

Sports and Recreation
With the projects that we have presented for the next fiscal year we managed to rescue the Central American Games Mayagüez 2010, to honor the international athletic community and to save the reputation and good name of Puerto Rico. We go to Mayagüez with pride, not only to support our athletes, but to demonstrate to our Central American and Caribbean brothers that Puerto Rico knows to fulfill its commitments.

The CACSO Executive approved the Special Commission Report. Also in the meeting the Secretary of Sports, Hon. Henry Newmann reassured the Government of Puerto Rico financial support.
In a meeting of the Executive of CACSO requested Dr. Bernier, PUR NOC President to consider the appointment of the new President of the Organizing Committee. Also it was requested by the CACSO Executive that the NOC President consider the appointment of the Secretary of Sports in the OC M-2010 Board of Directors.
On Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 both announcements were made by Dr. David Bernier, PUR NOC President.
