Cuba Will Not Participate in the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games

The news that Cuba will not participate in the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games, Mayagüez 2010 did not surprise us, though it certainly filled out hearts with sadness. The absence of Cuba's world class talent from the event will denote a marked decay in the quality of the competition, which we mourn, but we do not believe that it will adversely affect the support and enthusiasm of our fellow sport fans towards the 2010 Games, which will be a great success.
These unfortunate news do not change or reduce our admiration, consideration, and respect that the Cuban athletes and their coaches have earned during our four decades of Puerto Rican leadership within the world of sports.
There will be many more opportunities to share and compete to come, as well many other opportunities to share in the spirit of countries brought together by the powerful bond of the world of competitive sports.
